Not all our visitors are human We were given our Site of Special Scientific Interest status because of our unique limestone geology, but also because of the rich variety of rare plants, shrubs, grasses, bats, birds and animals we offer a home to. If you're fond of Fauna you'll find plenty to interest you here : the Greater and Lesser Horseshoe Bat (in the Diamond Chamber in Gough's Cave), Natterer's Bat, Wiskered Bat, Daubenton's Bat, Brown Long-eared Bat and others; a colony of Dormice in woodland at the top of the Gorge and surrounding our Gorge Walk; birds of prey such as the Peregrine Falcons who nest high in the cliffs at the Pinnacles; twenty-nine breeding species of butterfly including the Small pearl-bordered Fritillary and Chalkhill Blue.
