one of the subjects of that talk – the Fussell’s
Edge Tool Industry, which produced agricul-
tural scythes, sickles, etc. Meet 1.30pm out-
side the Talbot Inn, Mells GR 728492, a level
walk down the Mells Valley to Great Elm.

THE ARCHAEOLOGY
OF MENDIP AND ITS ENVIRONS
A two day conference to be held at the
Bishop’s Palace, Wells; over 20 expert speak-
ers on the new research and ideas about the
archaeology of the Mendip landscape cover-
ing Pre-Historic, Roman, Medieval and Post-
Medieval periods. Not only for the dedicated
historian but also for the layman and those
generally interested. £35 or £25 conces-
